Jim Acklin was our guest speaker in December. Jim is the retired Superintendent of St. Joseph-Ogden High School and is running for State Representative in the 102nd District. We had a lively discussion on the problems the State of Illinois is having.

Our very own George Vargus spoke at our November meeting. George is running for Champaign County States Attorney in the 2016 election and spoke of his plans for the office if elected. George is currently a Public Defender in the Champaign County Public Defenders Office and was a JAG officer in the United States Army.

Thanks to Ed Camacho who came to Illini High 12 to speak about theShriners Hospitals for Children and Ansar Shriners. Ed will be the next Potentate in 2016 for ANSAR. Even better yet Ed joined Illini High 12! We also welcomed George Vargus as a member of our club!

Two fabulous presentations at the May 2015 Illini High Twelve Meeting.
State High Twelve VP Charlie Coffey talked about the Illinois High Twelve Association awards. These need to be turned in by July 1 to Charlie.
Habeeb Habeeb told his story of coming to the United States and the amazing opportunities he has found here. Habeeb truly had many in the room with tears in their eyes as he told of his love for the country. What an amazing person, he is proud to be an American!
The 2015-16 Illini High Twelve Officers were nominated as follows:

If you missed Illini High 12 April meeting, you missed an outstanding presentation by Professor Scott Schwartz of the University of Illinois Sousa Archives Library. Scott talked about the history of John Phillips Sousa, especially around the time of WW1 and his influence on American music.
Did you know that John Phillips Sousa's collection is right here on the UI campus?
Sousa was a member of Hiram-Takoma Lodge No. 10 F.A.A.M. of the District of Columbia and the Almas Shriners both in Washington DC.

The Mid-year meeting of the Illinois High Twelve Association will be held at the Champaign Masonic Center on Saturday April 11 from 10:30 - 3pm. Lunch will be served at a cost of $10 per person and will be prepared by Illini High Twelve No. 768 members.
We hope you can attend this meeting and join in High Twelve Members across Illinois from some fun and fellowship.

February has been a long cold month, but our Illini High 12 meeting was fantastic. Our guest speaker this month was Ben Quattone of Champaign Honda-BMW. Ben gave a wonderful presentation on the automotive business and some insights on how the dealerships work. Ben even bought everyone lunch!

Our January meeting was well attended and our guest speaker was Joe Alexander. Joe is a history graduate of the University of Illinois and gave a talk on President Ronald Reagan. President Reagan is the only native Illinois born President. Joe talked about the adversity the President faced growing up and his career in broadcasting and acting.
