Past DDGM Ray Cummings (Photo by Ron Peyton)
We had a great meeting this month. Our very own Past DDGM, Ray Cummings gave a great talk to our group about his recent trip to Scotland. He visited and talked about a number of places he visited there, including his visit to the Mother Lodge of Scotland, Kilwinning Lodge, and shared the photos he took there. He also visited Rosslyn Chapel while he was there and talked about that amazing place as well and shared more pictures of that remarkable structure. In the photo, he's talking about the Master's column and the Apprentice column, and how they seem to relate to Masonry.
Thank you, Ray, for your great presentation!
Next month, we'll have the President of the Illinois High Twelve visiting, and he'll be our featured speaker. Hope to see you there!

We had the great privilege at our September meeting of having University of Illinois President Bob Easter as our guest speaker. We had a great turnout, and several of our members brought guests along which is always encouraged. It's not every day you have the opportunity to hear about the great things the University of Illinois is doing from the unique perspective of the man that runs it. And our members had some great questions for him as well.
President Easter seemed to enjoy himself a great deal--told some very funny stories. We hope he'll come back and talk to us again.

Special thanks to Past Regents Carol Castellon and Julie Woller of Alliance Chapter for coming and talking to us about the Daughters of the American Revolution. We had a very good turn out, and everyone enjoyed learning something about this great organization, and a few things about history.
Remember, next month we've got the President of the University of Illinois, Dr. Robert Easter, coming to speak to us. Should be a very memorable meeting. Hope to see you all there.

Jayne DeLuce, President & CEO
Jayne did a great job reminding all of us just how much there is to see and do in Champaign County. She passed out some literature, including a Champaign County Visitor's Guide, and a booklet about the upcoming Corvette Show in Champaign June 28-30. The visitor's guide is a great resource even for those of us who live here. It's got everything in there. Restaurants. Events. Theaters. Museums. It's easy to forget just how much there is right here in our own neck of the woods. If you'd like a copy I'm sure the Visitor's Bureau can tell you where to get one if you call them at 800-369-6151.
Thanks for coming today, and remember, it's always appropriate to come exactly as you are, bring your spouse, or a guest (friend, relative, co-worker). And if you're coming from work, feel free to come in late, and leave when you need to.
Thanks again to Jayne, for sharing so much good information.

We're pleased to announce that Jayne DeLuce, who is CEO of the Champaign County Convention and Visitors Bureau, will our invited speaker at our June meeting. Jayne will talk about some the great events coming to our community this summer. Should be a very interesting talk. Look forward to seeing everyone there.
And remember--bring a guest along!

We held our elections at our May meeting today, and our new officers for 2013-14 are:

It's been my great pleasure having been the Charter President of the Illini High Twelve No. 768. I brag about our group all the time. From the very beginning, we've been different. We've grown quickly. We've had excellent speakers (and I've seen a few of the speakers coming up, and let's just say we've got a couple names on that list that are pretty remarkable for a small venue like ours). We even have our own logo! And I think in some ways, because we've been so successful right out of the gate, everyone is watching us.
Thank you all, it's been a real pleasure. I stand relieved.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Todd E. Creason

I'm also working with Weiscamps on the logo. By the May meeting, I should have it set up, and you will be able to order hats and jackets, and whatever else you might like with the Illini High Twelve logo on it. If all goes well, I should have all of that for the members as well.

Our next meeting is April 18th, 2013. We'll announce the speaker later this month. Look forward to seeing you then.
P.S. Bro. Secretary Knott mentioned today that dues will be coming up again soon. If you'd like to make things easier on our Secretary and bring them with you to the meeting next month, I'm sure he would greatly appreciate it. The annual dues are $20.

Tim Manard, Prairielands Council Exec, BSA
DDGM Ray Cummings only had about 70 announcements about work and events in the area--I think he took us through Fall 2015. He may very well still be there at the restaurant . . .
I'm glad to see that everyone enjoys these meetings as much as I do--it's something I look forward to each month. And we continue to grow.
And remember--bring a guest!

Next month--that's February already--Tim Manard, Scout Executive from the Prairielands Boy Scouts Council will be our guest speaker.
And hopefully by then, I'll have a few items to show you with our embroidered logo on them that members can order.
Monday, January 7, 2013
1.) Secretary Greg Knott reports our membership is up to 42 members! That's excellent. I think we were shooting for a hundred members in the first year, so we're well on our way.
2.) Tim Manard, Scout Executive from the Prairielands Boy Scouts Council will be our guest speaker in February.
3.) Greg Knott also mentioned that he will be going on a shopping trip with Nick Sullivan from the ROTC to spend the $300 the Illini High Twelve raised on supplies for the care packages to our troops overseas. Thanks again for everyone's generous contributions--it's a great effort, and I think we were all happy to assist.
4.) I found a company right here in Champaign (Weiscamps) that will set up our logo for jackets, sweatshirts, etc. I'll be talking to them this week. Once I get it set up, you'll be able to order whatever you want (whether it's a hoodie or a sweatshirt) directly from Weiscamp's website.
Hope to see you at our January Meeting on January 17th.
